Local Meet
Tuesday, October 23rd 3:15 - 4:00ish.
The meet will be run just like a Tuesday practice. Your child will stay after school and be picked up from the CLI by their coach. Estimated finish times are as follows:
Art – 1 hour – pick up at 4:30
Chess Puzzle – 50 minutes – pick up at 4:20
Creative Writing – 30 minutes – pick up at 4:00
Maps, Graphs and Charts - 45 minutes – pick up at 4:15
Music Memory – 30 minutes – pick up at 4:00
Number Sense – 10 minutes – pick up at 3:50
Oral Reading – 50 minutes – pick up at 4:20
Ready Writing – Monday, October 24 at 8:00 a.m. Your student does not need to come to the local meet if they are only in Ready Writing.
Social Studies - 30 minutes – pick up at 4:00
Spelling – 45 minutes – pick up at 4:15
Storytelling – 1 hour – pick up at 4:30
***You will need to pick up your student in the CLI the day of the Local meet.
District Meet
Saturday, December 8th at 8am at Walnut Springs Elementary School.
When to show up: ALL students will need to check in between 7:30-8:00 a.m. on Saturday. Students arriving late for their events may be disqualified from the competition.
Note: Since Ready Writing students will have already completed their writing compositions; they are not required to attend the meet on Saturday unless they want to see the results. The results should be posted around 9:30.
Where to check-in: Parents must check in their students at their campus’ registration table. Sign-in tables will be set up inside the front entrance of Walnut Springs Elementary School. Each campus will have a separate area for check-in and check-out.
What to wear: Dress comfortably. No school-identifying clothing may be worn.
What to bring: Students may bring money for the concession stand. Students do not need to bring any items for their competitions. Food and drink bottles are not permitted in the competition rooms.
Parking: You may park in the front parking lot of the school..
Entrance: Use the front entrance of the school.
Parents: Parents are asked to wait for their children in the cafeteria.
Only participants, coaches, and judges are allowed in the competition rooms.
Contest results will be posted in the cafeteria as they become available.
Concession stand: A concession stand will be open in the cafeteria.
When the contest is over: Parents are to pick up students in the cafeteria and check them out at their campus’ table in the foyer. Students may leave after their competition or may choose to stay until results are posted. Contest results are expected to be posted by 11:00. Final results will be posted on WSES UIL web page.
If your child will be leaving with someone other than his/her parent or guardian, you must send a letter with your child and he or she must give it to the staff member at the time they sign in.
